The Shield is a heel stable competing in WWE on it's RAW brand. It consists of Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins was one of the original members, but betrayed Ambrose as Money in the Bank and joined Evolution.
The group showed signs of forming on November 18, 2012, at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, when the debuting Rollins interfered in the main event, a triple threat match between champion CM Punk, John Cena and Ryback for the WWE Championship. he attacked Ryback with a chair, allowing Punk to pin Cena to win the match and retain his title. Reigns and Ambrose evenutally debuted to help Rollins in a feud with Ryback. The group named themselves The Shield and vowed to rally against injustice. Despite claiming that they were not working for CM Punk or Paul Heyman, over the next few weeks on both Raw and SmackDown they would routinely emerge from the crowd to attack Punk's adversaries such as Ryback, The Miz, Kane, and Daniel Bryan, who had attempted to save Kane. They also attacked Randy Orton after he defeated Brad Maddox; Maddox was the referee who helped Punk defeat Ryback during their Hell in a Cell match for the WWE Championship. The Shield would continue it's feud with Ryback through the Royal Rumble, helping Sheamus eliminate Ryback. After the Rumble, they would face Ryback, John Cena and Zack Ryder in a six man elimination tornado tag team match, in which the Shield lost as Roman Reigns was last eliminated by Ryback.
After their feud with Ryback ended, the Shield began a feud with the returning hall of famer Edge in which they attempted to put Edge through a table with a Secret Service, but they were stopped by Jacob Cass.
